Litigation
Mills & Co regularly represents clients in litigation in
the English High Court.
Most of the firms litigation takes place in the High
Court in London, where the Admiralty Court and the Commercial Court have expert knowledge
of shipping matters.
The firm occasionally, however, brings and defends litigation
in the High Court in Newcastle, which can be used to issue in rem proceedings
against ships, and which has in recent years also featured a Mercantile List, where
heavier commercial matters can be heard by judges with relevant experience.
The procedural rules relating to litigation in the High Court
were completely revised in April 1999, the former Rules Of The Supreme Court
being replaced by the Civil Procedure Rules.
The firm has kept on top of fast moving developments in the new rules, and their
application. |
