Studied at Cambridge University. Worked with London shipping and commodity lawyers Middleton Potts, before leaving to take a Master's Degree at Southampton University. Joined Mills & Co in January 1996. Became a partner in the firm in April 1997, and specialises in shipping and trade litigation.

Liz Davey - Partner

Studied law at Birmingham University. Worked at Barlow, Lyde and Gilbert from 1989 to 1991. Then joined Ingledew Botterell (subsequently Eversheds) until 1993, before joining Rayfield Mills as a founder member, and becoming a partner there in 1998. Joined Mills & Co on 1st August 2007. Specialises in dry shipping work (cargo claims and charter-party disputes) and personal injury.

Jonathan Green - Partner

Studied modern languages at Leeds University and law at Cardiff University. Worked in Richards Butler's shipping department from qualification in 1996, before leaving in December 2001 to join Middleton Potts. Specialises in charterparty, bill of lading and sale contract disputes. Joined Mills & Co in November 2003 and became a partner there in April 2005. Speaks French and Italian.

Joined Ingledew Botterell (subsequently Eversheds) on qualification in 1991, before joining Rayfield Mills in 1993 as a founder member and becoming a partner there in 1998.  Joined Mills & Co on 1st August 2007.  Specialises in dry shipping (charterparty, bill of lading and MOA disputes), international sale of goods, ship building and repair, ship sale and purchase and ship finance.

Guy B. Mills - Partner

Worked at Ince & Co until 1993, left to join Mills & Co at its inception and became a partner in September 1995.   Specialises in dry shipping work (charterparty disputes, MOA work and cargo claims) and in litigation, contracting and financing for shipowning, shipbuilding and shiprepairing clients. External legal draftsman on BIMCO sub-committee producing standard form ship repair contract 'REPAIRCON'.

Peter Sim - Partner

Studied maritime commerce and then took a Master’s degree in marine law and policy at University of Wales. Worked in Norton Rose’s shipping department from 1988 until 1995, in London, Bahrain and Piraeus. Joined Rayfield Mills in 1995 and became a partner in 1998. Joined Mills & Co on 1st August 2007. Master Mariner and Notary Public. Specialises in casualty work, unsafe port claims, tanker disputes and charterparty disputes involving technical issues.

Michael Smith - Partner

Worked at Baker & McKenzie until 1991 and then at Norton Rose; joined Mills & Co in June 1996 and became a partner in April 1997.  Specialises in dry shipping litigation (principally charterparty disputes and cargo claims) and international sale of goods/trade finance advice.

David Sunter - Partner

Studied at Glasgow College of Nautical Studies, Newcastle University, Sunderland Polytechnic and City of London Polytechnic. Deck Officer in Merchant Navy 1972 – 1981, Ship Surveyor with Lloyds Register 1981 – 1985 and Consultant/Expert Witness 1985 - 1987. From 1987 worked for Ince & Co in London and Singapore, qualifying as a solicitor in 1993. Joined Norton Rose in 1998 as head of the Admiralty Department and principal marine accident investigator. Formed Sunter & Co in December 2002. Joined Mills & Co in September 2005. Chartered Engineer, Member of the Institute of Marine Engineers, Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, and CEDR accredited mediator.

Stephen Ravenscroft - Consultant

Studied law at Cambridge University where he also obtained a master’s degree.  Worked in the shipping department of Ingledew Botterell (subsequently Eversheds) from qualification in 1986, becoming a partner in 1990.  Left in 1993 to become a founding partner of Rayfield Mills, subsequently retiring as a partner to become a consultant. Joined Mills & Co on 1st August 2007. Specialises in dry shipping work (principally charterparty disputes and cargo claims).

Allen Marks - Assistant Solicitor

Studied at Dundee University. Worked at RadcliffesLeBrasseur in London as a commercial litigation solicitor until November 2002. Then worked for Clyde & Co in their insurance and reinsurance department where he handled both marine and non-marine matters. Joined Mills & Co in May 2005 to specialise in shipping matters.

Fenella Tookey - Assistant Solicitor

Studied at Oxford University. Worked at Mills & Reeve, Norwich, 1994-1996, spending a year post-qualification working as a civil litigator, chiefly on claims referred by legal insurers. Joined Mills & Co in October 1997, and deals with charterparty disputes, cargo claims and shiprepair disputes. Spent six months on secondment to the UK P&I Club, March to September 1999.
